\nBranding his death as an inopportune loss at a time the country needed most the direction a true progressive Nationalist, SDP in a statement by its Acting National Chairman, Chief Supo Shonibare, said that Balarabe Musa would be remembered as a true Nationalist who governed Kaduna State selflessly, without enriching himself and played national politics with unequalled honesty and humility. He always encouraged unity among progressives in the polity.
\nShonibare said: \u201cAlhaji Balarabe Musa will be remembered as a committed Democrat, an incorruptible Administrator and a thoroughbred Progressive. We commiserate with his wife & family, as well as the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, and the people of Kaduna State over this loss. Balarabe Musa will be greatly missed for his minimalist life style, nation-building efforts and his unflinching commitment to the welfare and improvement of the commoner both as a Governor and in his many advocacy broadcasts. His ideological contributions in the annals of the Socialist Nigerian historical prescriptions for governance, will remain the reference point in defining the necessary executive proactive efforts in alleviating poverty & being responsive to the plight of the Talakawas , in a manner similar to the efforts of his former Leader & predecessor – the legendary Mallam Aminu Kano.\u201d
\nChief Shonibare also described as indelible, the role of Alhaji Musa in the party\u2019s first outing in the Third Republic, both as a National party leader and his robust, principled commitment to the June 12 struggle to revive the annulled mandate of its Presidential Candidate, Bashorun M.K.O. Abiola. He was one of the last ones standing in Northern Nigeria in that resolve, who continued to display an unflinching support for the Democratic decision of the Nigerian people as expressed in the choice of Chief MKO Abiola\u2019s as the President-elect.
\nShonibare also commended the late politician for preaching and practising the \u201chandshake across the North- South divide\u201d, as a necessary ingredient for guaranteeing national survival, unity, equity and justice in the polity.
